I picked up my nursing career again after raising our two children and a menagerie of household pets.
Bill and I owned two big boats and enjoyed sailing for twenty years. We now have a small power boat to cruise the rivers of N.C. and Bill races an Ensign (small sailboat).
Not knowing how busy I’d be when Bill retired from GE, my intention was to get my N.C. license and continue working. That never happened.
Life in retirement, however, is full and exciting. I serve as liturgy chair on the church council, teach a confirmation prep class , am active in a political group, sing in a community chorale, sing in the church choir, volunteer for hospice as “respite” for full time care-givers as well as baby-sit our son’s 4 year old when nursery school is closed. I’m having a ball. There certainly is no time for gainful employment.
