"Always leaves them laughing. " (Allen)

"Big Al" . . . one of "Meagher's mob". . . varsity baseball. . . that bright red sweater. . . the never-to-be-forgotten Junior Play.

Alan is currently living in Miami, Florida.

Ok. Where do I begin to catch up on the past 50 years since graduation from RHS in ’57?

Upon leaving our hallowed halls as most of you know I went to the University of Georgia where I attained my BBA in 1961.  As you can imagine, with the government draft in full swing, the job market for recent college graduates was tight, until at least your military service was completed.

The next major event in my life was in 1965 when I was married to Sona, my current bride of 41 years.  We lived in Mineola and I worked in the city.  With commuting on the LIRR I my job consumed over 11 hours per day, portal to portal.  To put some of that time to good use, I enrolled in an MBA program at Adelphi University.

Meanwhile, all of this commuting was getting on my nerves.  I was wondering why all of the people I saw on the train were doing this day in and day out.  Then I had an epiphany. Everyone was working so hard so that they could make enough money to retire to Florida.  I was 26 years old.  Why not go down to Florida now?  We moved to Miami.

I completed my MBA at the University of Miami and in 1970 went into the insurance business.  I began my own agency, Creative Financial Management and enjoy ownership of that agency today.

We have two children, Ken who lives in Weston, FL and Holly who lives in Catonsville, MD.  Ken is a landscape architect and has given us two grandsons, Cobi and Reese.  Holly is a psychotherapist and has given us a granddaughter, Ayla and a grandson, A.J.

Sona and I have quite literally traveled around the world.  We have visited North Africa, Europe, China, Hong Kong and Bali.  We took the family to Greece and Turkey one year and to Israel another. We are saving Australia until we get old.  Right now we are planning for Norway, Sweden and Russia for next summer (2007).
